JANUARY 2007
HMG SELLS PRIME DEVELOPMENT SITE IN CHESTER

After nearly 3 years of negotiation, HMG has completed its sale of Windsor House in Chester City Centre. The multi-let office property, which includes the adjoining Habitat retail unit has been sold to the Mall Corporation for a price of nearly £16 million.
Andrew Murray, Chief Executive of HMG explains, "The Mall own Chester’s principal shopping scheme, The Mall Grosvenor which is located opposite the properties and the idea behind the deal was that they would aim to strengthen what is currently the secondary part of their scheme by building on our site. We do not usually like to sell our properties, but The Mall Corporation were clearly a special purchaser here. The improvement in value that this could provide to their existing ownership is considerable which is why we were able to achieve such a strong price."
HMG acquired the properties about 10 years ago, for a total cost of £3.5 million.
